Tiny needles are inserted into points on the ear which can have a direct effect on the immune system or the nervous system, or in fact any organ or area of the body. Depending on the individual ear acupuncture can be used in isolation or as part of an acupuncture treatment where body points are also used. Sometimes the effect can be enhanced by taping seeds or sleeper needles to the ear which continue the effect between visits to the practitioner.
